About the Role

The incumbent will provide high-quality legal advice and guidance to PSP teams, including the Legal Affairs and Compliance Groups, with respect to regulatory compliance of PSP's investment and corporate activities. This includes monitoring changes to the regulatory framework applicable to PSP's investment and corporate activities and participating in corporate initiatives to manage regulatory risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advice to PSP teams on regulatory matters, including obligations relating to securities laws.
  • Monitor changes to the regulatory framework applicable to PSP's investment and corporate activities.
  • Participate in corporate initiatives, including leading or participating in working groups on regulatory and corporate initiatives.
  • Contribute to the review of investment management and other types of agreements relating to the management of assets by PSP, from a regulatory compliance perspective.
  • Coordinate and supervise the legal work performed by approved external legal counsels worldwide in accordance with internal policies.

Requirements

  • A University degree in Law.
  • Member of the Bar Association of any of the Canadian provinces or territories.
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years of relevant experience as a lawyer in securities law, regulatory regimes, and/or corporate transactions gained in private practice or as in-house counsel for a large organization or compliance group.
  • Experience in regulatory compliance with respect to securities laws, rules, and regulations and/or derivatives and complex investment products is an asset.
  • Hardworking, highly professional, and autonomous.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive.
  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and work on numerous files.
  • Highly competent, analytical, and precise.
  • A team player.
  • Flexible, interested in working in and contributing to a growing organization.
  • Bilingualism: English and French.
