About the Role

This exciting opportunity is for a highly skilled Architectural Systems Specialist to join our team at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories. As a key member of our Energy and Infrastructure Management Architectural Section, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining the Architectural Systems at our facilities and Deep River buildings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Optimize the operation of all building architectural systems and equipment to ensure peak operational efficiency and reliability.
  • Provide a safe and hazard-free work environment for customers.
  • Execute routine operation, scheduled preventive maintenance, and strategic upgrades as part of a defined program.
  • Monitor progress on design activities against standards and objectives for project implementation.
  • Review contractor quotes, submittals, schedules, reports, costs/invoices, and ensure scope requirements are met for each change order.
  • Perform field inspections for projects and Infrastructure work.
  • Provide advice and lead the development of practical and economical solutions to specific problems encountered by projects.
  • Monitor and control Architectural systems.
  • Maintain building envelope and assets at the lowest life cycle cost and identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Maintain a Deferred Maintenance program for architectural systems.
  • Prepare scope of work documents and requirements for upgrading and retrofitting of existing facilities.
  • Perform Facility and Infrastructure evaluations complete with status reports.
  • Initiate and maintain all related processes including requests for quotes, procurement, change control, integrated work control, and scope change management.
  • Investigate and authorize work requests.
  • Liaise with trades and contractor personnel for carrying out maintenance activities and/or renovation activities.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduation from an institute of technology in an architectural-related discipline or 10 years of experience in related maintenance and construction.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in architectural-related maintenance and construction.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to work in a team environment and with minimum supervision. Understanding of project management. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work smoothly and effectively with customers, technical staff, colleagues, and management. Ability to perform a variety of duties, changing tasks without loss of efficiency or composure. Strong knowledge of facility management and maintenance. Good base knowledge of the National Building Code, Canada Labour Code, WHMIS, CNSC regulations, and other codes pertaining to life safety.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom.
