About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as an Associate Vice President, Faculty Support. In this role, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and management of all aspects of faculty support, including institutional-level career development and leadership development.

You will work closely with academic leaders, human resources, and other stakeholders to support a healthy workplace environment that is diverse, inclusive, equitable, safe, supportive, and respectful. Your expertise in managing faculty or academic staff relations, interpreting and administering collective agreements, and handling grievance processes will be invaluable in this role.

In addition to your technical skills, you will bring a high level of interpersonal and relationship management skills, as well as a strong strategic leadership style that evinces respect, inclusion, integrity, collaboration, and collegiality.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Strategic leadership and management of faculty support services;
  • Supporting academic leadership and human resources teams;
  • Facilitating positive performance management and dispute resolution;
  • Interpreting and administering collective agreements;
  • Leading collective bargaining with faculty associations;
  • Attracting, hiring, onboarding, and orienting exceptional faculty and academic staff;
  • Leadership on numerous university committees and provincial associations;
  • Advising senior leadership on strategic matters impacting faculty and academic staff.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • A graduate degree in a relevant field, such as human resources or education;
  • An advanced degree (Ph.D. or JD) or experience in higher education administration;
  • 10 years of progressive experience in senior administrative or human resource roles;
  • Proven experience in managing faculty or academic staff relations;
  • Demonstrated experience in faculty recruitment, onboarding, and career development;
  • Experience in strategic planning, particularly in areas of academic and faculty support;
  • Superior interpersonal and relationship management skills;
  • Strong strategic leadership skills;
  • Exceptional negotiation, conflict resolution, and diplomacy skills;
  • Strong analytical abilities;
  • Knowledge of labour relations laws and policies;
  • Ability to work fluently in both official languages.
Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $150,000 - $165,000 per year. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a pension plan, life insurance, and paid time off.
