Health and Safety Leader

About the Role
CertainTeed Canada is seeking a dedicated EHS Manager to lead our Health, Safety and Environment programs at our Mississauga and Oakville facilities.
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with corporate and provincial legislative requirements, developing and maintaining systems, and promoting an autonomous EHS culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze EHS data to inform and drive decision-making
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards
- Develop and implement behavioral EHS initiatives to promote a culture of safety
- Liaise with government entities and maintain all EHS-related permits
- Maintain EHS training programs to ensure proper training for all employees
- Audit against Saint-Gobain Safety Standards and ensure compliance
- Lead and facilitate Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings
- Conduct Risk Assessments and deliver actions to mitigate identified risks
- Conduct Safety Incident investigations
- Ensure effective injury case management process is fully implemented
- Develop and implement Safety Risk reduction project plans
- Ensure CertainTeed Canada's standards of safety are designed into process and equipment
- Provide support to project teams during delivery phase and commissioning of equipment
- Identify safety and environmental opportunities and develop solutions for corrective actions
- Assist with training for operators and maintenance personnel
Requirements
- University Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Relations or relevant field of study
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an EHS Manager or equivalent experience
- Participative, hands-on, industrial, practical leader in a union industrial manufacturing environment
- Must be a self-starter and team player
- Demonstrated results as a participative Change Agent
- Demonstrated ability to influence others without direct authority
- Leads by example
- Very good knowledge and previous experience with Provincial EHS standards
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks
