Facility Engineering Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to lead our facility engineering team at BlueRock Therapeutics. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and overseeing our buildings and equipment to ensure a safe, functional, and reliable work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and improve facility infrastructure, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Oversee a team of facility professionals to ensure the offices and laboratories are functioning 24/7.
  • Collaborate with LabOps, EHS, and Scientific teams as it relates to emergency response and business continuity.
  • Perform routine maintenance on facilities and make repairs as needed.
  • Schedule routine inspections and emergency repairs with outside vendors.
  • Maintain day-to-day operations by completing work orders.
  • Monitor Building Management System and emergency response as needed.
  • Respond, evaluate, and document critical equipment alarms using a CMMS.
  • Organize and track all documentation required in a cGMP environment.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for MEP systems, including HVAC, compressed gas, boilers, and chillers.
  • Conduct daily inspections to ensure facilities utilities and space are in optimum condition.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to create a high standard of cleanliness across the facility.
  • Develop and maintain internal facility SOPs and ensure department compliance with training requirements.
  • Collaborate with team during construction expansion projects.
  • Evaluate, select, and manage relationships with external vendors and contractors for facility-related services and projects.
  • Ensure all facilities and operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards.
  • Prioritize and delegate work orders for the team.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to implement improvements to enhance overall facility functionality.
  • Partner with LabOps and EHS team to develop and maintain emergency response plans.
  • Mentor junior employees as they develop their engineering and facility skills.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability within the laboratory facilities.

Requirements:

  • BSc in Engineering or related life science degree with 11+ years of experience, or 15+ years relevant experience in Biotech/Pharma facilities.
  • Experience in working with mechanical HVAC and building controls.
  • Hands-on experience with maintenance of equipment.
  • Expert in BSL2, cleanrooms, and cGMP spaces.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with keen attention to detail and highly organized.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in adjusting to changing priorities and schedules.
  • Client-focused mindset.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Experience in working in electronic systems, including CMMS, MS Suite, Smartsheet, OneNote, and document management.
