About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Geriatric Psychiatrist to join our team at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional care to our elderly patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the care of patients on the 30-bed inpatient unit at Royal Inland Hospital, utilizing your specialized skills and expertise in geriatric psychiatry.
  • Contribute to the Seniors Mental Health Program at the Kamloops Mental Health & Substance Use centre, offering short-term assessment and treatment for moderate to severe psychiatric diagnoses.
  • Provide consultation-liaison psychiatry services, working closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for our patients.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans that address the unique needs of our elderly patients, incorporating advanced pharmacological treatments and psychosocial support.
  • Collaborate with patients, their families, and care networks to educate them on geriatric mental health issues, promoting better management and understanding of these conditions.
Requirements
  • Board certification in psychiatry with a focus on geriatric care.
  • Experience working with elderly patients and their families.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines, with a focus on delivering high-quality patient care.
