Bunge is a world leader in sourcing, processing and supplying oilseed and grain products and ingredients. We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to join our team in Hamilton.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled Quality Assurance Manager who will be responsible for ensuring the quality of our food and feed products. This includes developing and maintaining our Quality Management System, as well as investigating customer complaints and implementing corrective actions.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain the Quality Management System, including HACCP, SQF and GMP+, to meet customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate customer complaints and implement corrective actions, working with the QA Manager and other teams as needed.
  • Ensure that product formulations and operating conditions are current and available to staff who require them.
  • Work with the QA Manager, Bunge R&D and others to improve current products and address problems with products.
  • Ensure that technical aspects of products are correct and meet regulatory and customer requirements, working with the Purchasing Coordinator and QA Manager.
  • Promote awareness of customer and regulatory requirements through ongoing training throughout the plant.
  • Ensure that revision status of documented policies, procedures, and quality records are authorized for use, maintained and controlled, and available at all points of use.
  • Verify and maintain the Quality and Food/Feed Safety systems.
  • Supervise and enforce the documentation related to the successful maintenance of the Quality and Food/Feed Safety systems.
  • Verify Sanitation Forms, CCPs, Pre shipment Verification, HACCP Prerequisites, Daily Supervisors Report.
  • Review Prerequisite and HACCP Plans.
  • Maintain and verify calibration records.
  • Conduct third-party audits.
  • Conduct Annual Sanitation/Chemical Safety Training and HACCP/Food/Feed Safety/GMP Training.
  • Responsible for rework management.
  • Responsible for planning and completion of internal audits as required by the Quality Management/Food/Feed Safety Systems.
  • Communicate all Food/Feed safety and quality concerns to Management.
  • Participate in Job Hazard Analyses, Near-Miss Reporting and other required safety-related activities.
  • Aware of developments in quality, regulatory, analytical and safety requirements as they relate to this position and incorporate these into operation as needed.
  • Responsible for quality confirmation of all product ingredients. Ensure that purchases are from approved suppliers and resolve ingredient quality issues.
  • Respond to sales and customer inquiries as needed.
  • Primary back-up for QC Technicians.
  • Back up for SQF Practitioner.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An associate degree in a science or technical field.
  • Candidates with equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • The ideal candidate will have 7 or more years of lab experience in oils & fats, food processing, grain milling, pharmaceutical manufacturing, or related industry.
  • You should be a self-starter with good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently sometimes without supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret various directives that may be provided in written or oral format such as diagram, or schedule format such as safety rules, operating instructions, drawings, production schedules, etc.
  • Ability to complete routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to contribute to Root Cause Failure analysis reviews.
  • Efficient in defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Experience with an ERP, such as SAP is preferred.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed.
Salary

$80,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on experience.
