Property Accountant Job Opening in Toronto, ON

Adecco Professional is partnering with a client to find top talent to fill a Property Accountant job opening in Toronto, ON. The Accountant is responsible for all accounting functions for an assigned portfolio of properties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide all accounting related support to your portfolio of properties.
  • Perform full cycle AP and AR functions, bank reconciliation and more.
  • Assist with month-end closing and reporting procedures, monthly forecasts of portfolio financials, and support budgeting.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and perform variance analysis including journal entries; prepare monthly reporting packages for leadership.
  • Monitor and govern all financial transactions that are processed through the properties by performing balance sheet analysis, operating expense review, P&L variance analysis, cash flow projections, and compilation of comprehensive working papers.
  • Provide support to operational staff on various matters related to cash flow, projections and budgets, funding requests, and interpretation of complex tenant leases.
  • Set up new properties into the system; review agreements and rent calculations.
  • Additional duties as assigned including some administrative functions in communications with internal and external clients.
Requirements:
  • At least 2 years of progressive, full-cycle accounting experience; property accounting experience is required.
  • Completed post-secondary education in Accounting
  • IFRS knowledge
  • Advanced MS Excel skills: JD Edwards experience an asset
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Motivated and keen to learn new processes and systems as unique to the industry; must be a quick learner
  • Exhibit a high level of professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Possess strong organizational, time management skills with a demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Strong relationship-building ability, proactive, results-oriented, and resourceful
  • Ability to meet deadlines without compromising accuracy, excellent product quality and attention to detail.
