About the Role

We are seeking a Health and Safety Specialist to join our team in the Health, Safety, and Security Department. This role reports to the Health and Safety Manager for Cannabis Operations and focuses on ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations across our two BC-based facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and monitor the safety program to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Develop and implement Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) policies and guidelines.
  • Conduct safety orientations for new hires (temporary and full-time workers).
  • Oversee incident reporting, injury management, and WorkSafeBC claims.
  • Support return-to-work programs and collaborate with HR on safety-related employee issues.
  • Lead the Joint Workplace Health and Safety Committee and Supervisor Safety Leadership meetings.
  • Perform weekly, monthly, and annual facility inspections and audits.
  • Manage safety statistics and ensure safety programs, protocols, and proactive initiatives are up to date.
  • Conduct mask fit testing and manage personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety supplies.
  • Coordinate safety training (e.g., first aid, forklift, WHMIS) for all employees.
  • Oversee the Emergency Response Plan, drills, and ensure employees on all shifts are engaged with safety initiatives.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • 3-5 years of experience in health and safety, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • A university certificate in an HSE or OH&S program.
  • Experience managing safety programs across multiple facilities in different provincial jurisdictions.
  • Strong knowledge of OH&S legislation and experience handling WorkSafeBC claims.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to foster a culture of safety.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Current First Aid certification is an asset.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition, we provide a top-notch extended benefits package including medical, vision, and dental coverage.
