Fraser Health is a leading healthcare provider in British Columbia, offering comprehensive services to the community. Our team of dedicated professionals is committed to delivering high-quality care and improving patient outcomes.

Job Overview

We are currently seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist for Mental Health to join our team. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will be responsible for providing treatment and care management services to individuals with mental health and concurrent disorders.

Your primary goal will be to promote recovery and rehabilitation, reduce barriers to accessing care, and foster a culturally-safe and responsive environment. You will work collaboratively with clients, families, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans that address the unique needs of each client.

This role requires a strong understanding of mental health principles, practices, and legislation. You will be expected to stay up-to-date with best practices, research, and evidence-based guidelines to ensure delivery of high-quality care.

In addition to your clinical expertise, you will also provide education and support to clients and their families, as well as facilitate access to community resources and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate care for clients by collaborating with the interprofessional care team, performing intake functions, conducting mental health assessments, developing, implementing, maintaining, and adjusting comprehensive treatment plans based on client needs and best practices.
  • Plan and provide direct nursing care to clients in compliance with standards of practice, including reviewing client/family history, conducting physical/psychosocial assessments, assessing vital signs, developing a care plan specific to the client, and collaborating with other members of the healthcare team to discuss and review the care plan.
  • Establish, maintain, and enhance therapeutic relationships based on respect with clients and their informal support network, engaging stakeholders in treatment planning and evaluation, providing support and follow-up planning, promoting and supporting clients to manage self-care, encouraging informed decision-making, and empowering the client to improve their quality of life.
  • Provide treatment services, including crisis intervention, individual counseling, and education according to various theoretical models, to clients and their informal support network as required.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing from an approved school.
  • At least two years of recent related experience providing treatment services to individuals with mental health and/or concurrent disorders, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • A valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage.

You must also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

We offer a competitive salary range of CAD $40.78 per hour, plus benefits and opportunities for professional growth and development.
