Job Description
This is a full-time opportunity to work with the Canadian Wildlife Service – Wildlife and Habitat Assessment Unit in supporting seabird and sea duck monitoring programs in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide expert scientific advice on thick-billed murres to support Murre Management Plan and Ocean Protection Plan initiatives.
- Support delivery of 2025 Cape Bathurst Surveys and thick-billed murre surveys.
- Undertake logistics planning necessary to implement field research in the eastern and western Arctic.
- Data management, data transcription, and reporting.
- Support delivery of thick-billed murre surveys for harvest management decisions.
Requirements:
- Enrolled in a graduate studies program in a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in the biological sciences with a focus on wildlife ecology and management.
- Experience analyzing, interpreting, and reporting on data or information relating to ecological research or wildlife surveys.
- Experience preparing plain language and technical documents summarizing scientific information.
- Willing and able to travel within Canada, including to remote locations.
- A valid driver's license.
Estimated Salary: $37.53 per hour, salary will vary as per the level of education and experience.
