Technical Plant Health Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Technical Plant Health Specialist to join our team at HallMark Veterinary & Compliance Services. This is an exciting opportunity to play a crucial role in safeguarding plant health and seeds.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for certifying export produce, plants, machinery, and ware potatoes after examination in accordance with specific country requirements. They will also undertake general quarantine surveillance and specific annual and multi-annual surveys to monitor for quarantine and non-indigenous pests and diseases.
Main Responsibilities:
- Certify export produce, plants, machinery, and ware potatoes after examination
- Undertake general quarantine surveillance and specific annual and multi-annual surveys
- Conduct statutory assessments of imported plants, planting material, and plant produce
- Collect and submit soil samples as part of efforts to prevent the spread of dangerous plant pests and diseases
- Plan and schedule visits, assessments, and sample collections using various IT tools and systems
Requirements:
- Proficiency in IT
- Strong verbal communication skills in English to effectively interact with farmers
- Physical fitness and access to a vehicle
Working Conditions:
- This is a shift role with a 4 on 4 off working pattern
- The shift pattern consists of 10-hour shifts and a 28-minute unpaid break
- The role may involve working in different locations and occasional overnight stays

Salary and Benefits:
The salary for this role is estimated to be around £34,000 per year, not subject to any additional shift allowances. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer free parking on site.
