Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Clinician to join our team at Fraser Health. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness and substance use disorders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Treatment and Support: Provide intensive individual and group therapy, liaison services, and care coordination support to clients with complex needs.
  • Crisis Intervention: Respond to crisis situations, assess risk, and develop strategies for de-escalation and resolution.
  • Assessment and Referral: Conduct initial screenings, determine priority of care, and facilitate referrals to community resources.
  • Case Management: Coordinate services with police, hospitals, crisis lines, and suicide prevention programs to ensure seamless care.
  • Education and Advocacy: Provide education to clients, families, and caregivers on mental health and substance use issues, recovery processes, and relapse prevention strategies.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree: In social work, counselling psychology, or a relevant field.
  • Experience: 2 years of recent experience working with clients and families affected by mental illness and substance use disorders.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Demonstrated knowledge of mental health assessment skills, crisis intervention techniques, brief/short-term therapy skills, and psycho-pharmacology used in psychiatric treatment.
    • Ability to deal with others effectively, including establishing rapport with psychotic, crisis-prone individuals, and working collaboratively with other care providers.
    • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Registration: Eligible for registration with a relevant professional association.
  • Licence: Valid Class V British Columbia driver's license and access to a personal vehicle for business purposes.
Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is estimated to be between CAD $42.27 - $52.81 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a pension plan and paid time off.
