Old Toronto, Canada CharityVillage Full time

The Bishop Strachan School (BSS) is seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Specialist to join our team. As a vital member of our Student Well-being Department, you will play a key role in supporting the mental health and well-being of students from JK to Grade 12.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity for a qualified Psychologist or Psychological Associate to work in a dynamic and supportive environment. You will be responsible for providing individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and risk assessments to support students in need.

As a Mental Health Specialist at BSS, you will work closely with our Learning Services team to develop coordinated learning plans for students experiencing mental health issues, learning challenges, or situational distress. You will also collaborate with parents and staff to create Wellness Plans for students returning after a critical episode or those with prolonged mental health concerns.

In addition to your clinical expertise, you will provide professional learning on mental health topics to staff and workshops on social-emotional well-being for students. Your ability to embed diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging values into all activities will be essential in creating a positive and inclusive school environment.

About the Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a certified Psychologist or Psychological Associate with a Ph.D or Master's degree in Child/Adolescent and/or School Psychology. You should have experience in clinical presentations of disorders, therapeutic approaches, collaborative problem-solving techniques, and whole-school based programs to increase mental well-being in children and adolescents.

Your strong understanding of learning profiles, IEPs, differentiated instruction, and excellent communication skills will enable you to effectively work with staff and parents. We value candidates who are culturally competent, have a positive attitude toward cultural uniqueness, and are willing to accept and respect others.

What We Offer

BSS offers an extensive health and dental benefits package, lunch provided every day, use of an on-site fitness center, and opportunities for professional learning. Our commitment to fostering an inclusive, diverse, and respectful environment makes us an ideal workplace for those passionate about making a difference in the lives of students.
