Job Summary

This is a dynamic and challenging role that requires a unique blend of driving skills, customer service expertise, and technical knowledge. As a Bookmobile Driver/Clerk, you will be responsible for delivering library services to the community, operating the bookmobile, and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive the bookmobile to various locations, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of library services.
  • Perform all circulation functions, including charging and discharging materials, updating customer accounts, and reconciling cash.
  • Resolve customer account problems and queries, providing excellent customer service and support.
  • Assist customers with requests for materials and holds, and provide troubleshooting for hardware and software issues.
  • Monitor and request supplies, ensuring the bookmobile is well-stocked and equipped.
  • Secure the property, including locking and unlocking library vehicles, and maintaining a safe and secure environment.
  • Perform basic daily vehicle log and inspections, ensuring the bookmobile is in good working condition.
  • Operate office equipment, including computers and debit machines, and provide information about library resources and services.
  • Assist in maintaining an inviting and orderly library environment, and provide prompt and efficient customer service.
Qualifications
  • Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma plus two (2) years post-secondary training, or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency.
  • Must hold and maintain a current valid and lawful Class D Driver's Licence in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act, for the purposes of operating a City of Windsor vehicle and provide a driver's abstract as a condition of employment.
  • Must have over one (1) year up to and including three (3) years of customer service experience.
  • Availability to work on weekends is required for this position.
  • Must be proficient in keyboarding and have knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Must demonstrate excellent public service and customer relation skills.
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and organizational and communication skills.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of the online catalogue and circulation modules.
  • Respond willingly to flexibility in assignment and changing tasks in a team environment.
  • Public Library experience is considered a definite asset.
  • Ability to perform physical work, bend, reach, and lift up to 60 lbs.
  • The physical demands analysis associated with this job indicates a light level of work.
