At Markham Stouffville Hospital, we are committed to providing exceptional patient care and a positive work environment. We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Unit Secretary to join our team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
About the RoleThis is a challenging yet rewarding position that requires strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. As a Unit Secretary, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of the NICU, working closely with our healthcare teams to provide high-quality patient care.
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing clerical duties such as patient registration, filing, recording, and entering physician orders into the computer. You will also be responsible for answering and directing telephone calls, scheduling appointments, and giving information related to patient care as authorized by a Registered Nurse.
Requirements- Previous hospital unit secretary experience
- Experience in a Maternal/Child Unit is required
- Sound knowledge of medical terminology
- Proficient computer and typing skills
- Strong customer service, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple demands in a fast-paced environment
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a high attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills
We offer a competitive salary range of $25.93-$29.17 per hour, depending on experience. In addition, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a pension plan and opportunities for professional development.
