Nova Scotia Health is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Youth Health Centre Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will provide leadership, informal assessment, and support for youth associated with the assigned school facility and its immediate community.
The Youth Health Centre Coordinator will work within the Public Health Standards and Protocols and a Health Promoting Schools Approach, guided by the Public Health, Health Promoting Schools Standards. This role will require the ability to critically assess situations, navigate complex scenarios, and provide non-judgmental, trauma-informed support to youth.
The ideal candidate will have a baccalaureate degree in a relevant health care discipline, a minimum of three years' experience in a relevant field, and registration/licensure with their regulated health care discipline. They will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
The Youth Health Centre Coordinator will be responsible for creating opportunities for meaningful youth engagement, fostering youth leadership, and promoting health equity and the social determinants of health. They will also work with youth and foster cooperation and collaboration among school administrators, teachers, SchoolsPlus, guidance, student/youth support workers, primary health care, mental health and addictions, and other community partners.
The successful candidate will have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle. They will also be required to work 70 hours bi-weekly for an approximate ten-month period, aligning with the school calendar year.
Nova Scotia Health offers a competitive salary range of $33.80 - $41.06 hourly, as well as a benefits package that includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, and a defined benefit pension plan.
