About the Job

We are seeking an experienced Water Safety Specialist & Swimming Instructor to join our team. This role is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our participants, while also providing exceptional swimming instruction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to, and respond as trained in emergency situations.
  • Maintain order in the pool area, adhering to conduct guidelines and promoting a safe environment.
  • Set up and take down equipment, checking it for safety and reporting any malfunctions.
  • Conduct regular safety checks on lifesaving equipment.
  • Assist with cleaning duties related to the pool and equipment.
  • Ensure qualifications and certifications are current at all times.
  • Participate in scheduled programs, meetings, and special events.
  • Collaborate with staff and participants to promote additional programs offered by the YMCA.
Requirements:
  • Certifications in Lifesaving Society awards: National Lifeguard (NL), Standard First Aid & CPR level C.
  • YMCA or Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor certification.
  • Previous experience instructing swim lessons is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Flexibility regarding assigned hours of work, including weekday afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

About Us:

The YMCA of Greater Toronto offers a competitive salary of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience. Our benefits package includes health, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a generous retirement plan.
