Business Intelligence Report Developer

Role Summary

Thales Canada, Defence & Security is engaged in supporting the Canadian Army's Land Command, Control, Communications & Computers (C4) Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (LC4ISR) systems which enable critical decisions on a daily basis. Together with industry partners, Thales is building on the existing networks and applications to enhance digitized operations, support communications between joint and allied forces, and monitor and defend against the threats and evolving capabilities of potential adversaries.

This role will be responsible for supporting the Performance Manager in the development of Performance system for Thales' Non-Combatant In-Service Support programs. The incumbent will be responsible for implementing the performance system within POWERBI, with oversight from the Performance Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop analytics tools within Microsoft PowerBI, including data transformations, grouping, and aggregation, as well as connecting and shaping data from structured and unstructured sources.
  • Create a relational data model using both relational and dimensional schemas.
  • Calculate analytic expressions using DAX/SQL, ranging from simple calculations to temporal logistics.
  • Apply data visualization best practices using cards, KPIs, conditional formatting, and filtering.
  • Support the roll-out and commissioning of the Performance Management System.
  • Foster teamwork in the direct area of responsibility and with other teams across the program, where appropriate.
  • Effectively communicate with all levels of staff via staff meetings, written communications, and one-on-one communication.

Requirements

  • Experience in enterprise report development: 3 years.
  • Experience developing, designing, and/or testing SQL solutions: 3 years.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical abilities.
  • A degree or diploma in computer science or equivalent.
  • A positive and energized attitude.

Regulatory Compliance Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a NATO Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Registration Program (including ITAR-controlled articles).

Special Position Requirements

  • Hybrid position. Full-time, standard business hours.
  • Possibility of occasional travel to customer site for technical support/integration activities.
  • Possibility of occasional travel within Canada for planning events.
