Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in reading blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks, and waste and drainage systems.
  • Prepare tenders and quotations for plumbing projects.
  • Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes, and fixtures in walls and floors.
  • Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings.
  • Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, or soldering, brazing, and welding equipment.
  • Schedule personnel, tools, and equipment for plumbing projects.
  • Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges.
  • Determine piping system requirements and pipe sizing.
  • Supervise other workers on plumbing projects.
  • Estimate costs and materials for plumbing projects.
  • Operate CADD and other computer software systems.
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to the required shape and size.
Work Environment:
  • Physically demanding work environment.
  • Bending, crouching, kneeling, and handling heavy loads.
  • Work under pressure and with a large workload.
  • Overtime may be required.
Requirements:
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in the plumbing trade.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Judgement and team player skills.
