Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Trader and Mutual Fund Expert to join our Trading team at Aviso Wealth. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting the Manager, Mutual Funds, in ensuring seamless support and problem resolution with all activities related to Mutual Funds. You will also play a crucial role in placing daily Mutual Fund Trades for Portfolio Managers, Investment Advisors, and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Supports and performs daily executions of Mutual Fund trade orders, including buys, sells, and switches on Dataphile.
  • Executes trades and cancellation orders via FundSERV if mandatory.
  • Serves as a correspondent for Portfolio Managers, co-workers, and various other departments within the firm to resolve escalated complaints, disputes, or issues, whether client or system oriented, and escalates when required.
  • Maintains ongoing communications with Mutual Fund Companies, Regulators, and Network providers to discuss and stay abreast of any developments or changes in the industry.
  • Daily review of all executed and rejected trades.
  • Learns to calculate dilution losses or gains.
  • Monthly upkeep of duplicate Mutual Fund account numbers and dormant trades on the order book.
  • Supports Portfolio Managers and staff with different types of Mutual Fund products, back-office systems, procedures, and regulations.
  • Administers recurring events for all Portfolio Managers, ensuring accurate processing.
  • Frequently answers calls or emails from Portfolio Managers or internally to resolve or address any issues in a client's account and escalates when appropriate.
  • Revises and makes modifications to the Mutual Funds Procedure Manual, keeping it up-to-date at all times.
  • Ensures accurate client demographics information with Fund Companies is maintained for proper tax reporting.
  • Serves as a liaison between various departments and Portfolio Managers on issues affecting day-to-day efficiencies of our businesses.
  • Identifies and recommends processing improvements in Mutual Fund operations and administrative functions to enhance productivity and profitability.
  • Meets established service standards for problem resolution and customer service.
  • Analyzes trends and recommends process or operational improvements with staff and Portfolio Managers.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A post-secondary education.
  • 5-10 years of experience in the investment industry with a good understanding of Mutual Fund investments.
  • Successful completion of the CSC & CPH or the IFIC.
  • Understanding of FundSERV N$M settlements, purchases, redemptions, switches, cash/reinvested, and notional distributions, PAC/SWD's transfer-ins and outs, rollovers, exchanges, commissions, and trailer fees.
  • Understanding of various Mutual Fund Products, such as Hedge, Pooled, Investment Trusts, Flow-through shares, Linked notes, GIC's, HISA's, and open-end Mutual Funds.
  • Recognition and understanding of the regulatory rules governing Mutual Funds established by IIROC and MFDA.
  • Outstanding versatility with the ability to conduct business with professionalism, build rapport, and exercise resourcefulness and understanding.
  • Proficient computer skills and good knowledge of FundSERV, myServ, Broadridge, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Independent and self-motivated with the ability to escalate issues when necessary.
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude, thriving in fast-paced environments and multi-tasking oriented.
  • Maintains quality and operational excellence with the highest level of service.
  • Capable of achieving required objectives within the company and regulatory requirements.
  • Attends to details and pursues quality in accomplishing tasks.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, strong customer service orientation.
  • Fluent communication skills in both English and French are required, with the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
Salary and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary range of $75,000 - $95,000 CAD annually, commensurate with experience.
