About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in the provision of safe and effective patient care, working closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the accurate preparation and dispensing of medications.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and packaging medications for dispensing to patients
  • Compounding sterile and non-sterile dosage forms
  • Dispensing medications to inpatients and outpatients in unit dose
  • Entering physician orders into the CIVA system
  • Working with automation technology to streamline medication preparation and dispensing
  • Performing inventory control and medication reconciliation
  • Participating in quality programs and patient safety initiatives

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in pharmacy technology, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

About You

We are seeking a candidate who:

  • Has a graduate degree in pharmacy technology or a related field
  • Is licensed and registered as a Pharmacy Technician in Nova Scotia
  • Has experience working in a hospital or healthcare setting, preferably in a pharmacy
  • Has knowledge of sterile technique and special precautions used with chemotherapy
  • Has experience with unit dose drug distribution systems and automation technology
  • Has strong mathematical skills and attention to detail
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
