About the Role

Hatch is seeking a highly motivated Electrical Design Technologist to join our Project Delivery Group (PDG). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical distribution systems for utility projects across North America.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical distribution systems for utility projects
  • Plan and coordinate electrical distribution systems with other disciplines
  • Produce and review designs and drawings for electrical distribution systems
  • Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory, and health and safety policies
  • Collaborate with designers and engineers from other disciplines to ensure electrical interfaces are coordinated
  • Participate in field surveys and other related duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Preferred experience in utility electrical design, with a strong preference for experience with larger Ontario distribution utilities
  • Proficient in CAD design 2D/3D (Microstation, AutoCAD, PSDS, PDS, etc.)
  • Proficient with utility pole loading calculations and related software (eg. SpidaCalc, PLSCADD, O-Calc, etc.)
  • Proficient with project management and document control tools (eg. ProjectWise, SAP, Primavera, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of third party attachment requirements to utility infrastructure
  • Strong knowledge of CSA 22/04 standards
  • Good working knowledge of electrical theory and construction practices
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and multitasking ability
  • Preference for a Certified Engineering Technologist designation
  • Preference for both civil and electrical multidisciplinary utility infrastructure experience
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Excellent safety awareness
