Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform personal care activities, such as hygiene, grooming, and dressing, under the direction of registered health care providers.
  • Maintain residents' independence, dignity, social, emotional, and cultural well-being.
  • Support residents in carrying out their daily activities, such as feeding, bathing, and mobility.
  • Assist with the preparation and serving of meals, snacks, and refreshments.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties, such as cleaning and laundry, to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for residents.
  • Participate in training and education programs to enhance skills and knowledge in personal support work.

Requirements:

  • Completed Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate from a College of Applied Arts and Technology.
  • 1-2 years experience in inpatient geriatric/rehab or long-term care experience.
  • Experience working with patients with cognitive impairment/dementia and those who exhibit responsive behaviors is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of infection control practices.
  • Aptitude to foster caring and trusting relationships with elderly patients and families.
  • Ability to work well with team members.
  • Effective organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform responsibilities in a courteous manner.
  • Commitment to ongoing education and development.
