Job Summary:

We are seeking an EHS Specialist to join our team at Asahi Kasei Battery Separator Canada. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and coordinating Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs and collaborating with site leadership to achieve site EHS objectives.

About the Role:

The EHS Specialist will help develop, update, and deploy EHS procedures and training programs to reduce risk and maintain compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements. This includes coaching all levels of personnel on critical skills, behaviors, and techniques that build and sustain an EHS culture.

The role also involves assisting in environmental compliance with applicable regulatory standards, monitoring, measuring, and communicating EHS performance and trends to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions. Additionally, the EHS Specialist will contribute to the development of program budgets and monitor performance against funding plans.

Responsibilities:

Develop, update, and deploy EHS procedures and training programsCounsel employees on EHS best practices and cultural expectationsEnsure environmental compliance with regulatory standardsMonitor and report EHS performance metricsAssist in program budgeting and financial management

Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you must have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as environmental safety and health, chemistry, engineering, or the physical sciences. You should also have 3+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing facility and be proficient in standard Microsoft desktop applications. Prior experience managing environmental compliance programs in Ontario is a plus.
