Exciting Opportunity at Abstract Developments

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Foreman to join our team at Abstract Developments. As a key member of our construction team, you will play a vital role in overseeing and coordinating the construction activities of our real estate development projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Plan and coordinate construction activities, including scheduling, resource allocation, and task delegation to meet project timelines. Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of construction workers, including carpenters, masons, electricians, and other tradespeople. Provide clear instructions, guidance, and supervision to the construction team to ensure efficient and effective workflow.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that construction work adheres to building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards. Conduct regular inspections to identify any defects or deviations from project specifications and take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Safety Compliance: Promote and enforce a culture of safety on construction sites, ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations and protocols. Conduct regular safety meetings, provide safety training to workers, and implement safety measures to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries.
  • Communication and Reporting: Maintain effective communication channels with project stakeholders, including project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers. Provide regular progress updates, construction reports, and any relevant documentation to project managers and senior management.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a construction foreman or similar role in residential wood framing, concrete form work, finishing, or general carpentry.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methods, techniques, and materials.
  • Computer literacy for field/office communication – Outlook, Word, Excel, MS Project, Procore, Jonas, and Blue Beam are considered an asset.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and blueprints.
  • Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills to address construction challenges and find effective solutions.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
