We are seeking a highly qualified Associate Professor to join our Department of Philosophy at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC). This tenure-stream position is available in Political Philosophy, with a focus on health policy.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will have an established international reputation and be expected to sustain and lead innovative and independent research at the highest international level. They will also maintain an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD degree in Philosophy or a closely related field, with a clearly demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. They must specialize in Political Philosophy and have established research expertise that relates to healthcare or health policy.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and teach courses in Political Philosophy, with a focus on health policy;
  • Maintain an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program;
  • Supervise graduate students and contribute to departmental service.
Qualifications

The successful candidate must have:

  • A PhD degree in Philosophy or a closely related field;
  • An established international reputation in Political Philosophy, with a focus on health policy;
  • A clearly demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching;
  • Established research expertise that relates to healthcare or health policy;

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University of Toronto offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical and dental insurance, retirement savings plan, and access to on-campus fitness facilities.
