Electrical Safety Consultant Role

About the Role

The Electrical Safety Consultant position involves providing independent advice on engineering, science, and related topics to companies and government organizations. The role assists in providing more efficient services to clients and conducts on and off-site evaluations to determine specific solutions for each customer.

About the Electrical Team

Intertek's Electrical team provides assurance, testing, inspection, and certification for a variety of electric products, including appliances, consumer electronics, lighting, medical devices, information communications technology, HVACR, industrial, and energy transmission and distribution. Our dedicated professionals help ensure the quality, safety, and sustainability of electrical products used by people throughout the world.

Responsibilities

  • Research and determine the applicability of national codes and standards
  • Validate project scope and sample applicability
  • Conduct thorough design reviews and document results
  • Supply information for quotes, including project length, resources, and samples required
  • Provide specialized expertise in one product category and become a subject matter expert
  • Coordinate and lead client meetings and discussions
  • Provide sales support for product requirements, including direct customer presentations
  • Communicate project status to clients, sales personnel, and management
  • Identify project needs and sample requirements for effective resource planning
  • Delegate tasks to team members to ensure timely project completion
  • Provide necessary support during project duration to meet organizational needs
  • Perform technical assessments and analysis of project specifications and implement necessary solutions

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 5+ years of direct experience in fields such as Regulatory and Compliance, Electrical, or Safety
  • Complete understanding of product safety standards, including ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, IEC, and the Canadian Electrical Code
  • Awareness of and adherence to safety practices and policies to ensure personal and others' safety
  • Detailed-oriented and able to prioritize and organize workload efficiently
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal, written, and presentation formats
  • Fundamental technical and administrative skills required to perform job duties
  • Customer-focused and quality-driven
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • Valid driver's license and reliable driving record

Preferred Requirements

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
