As a Geotechnical Expert Lead at KGS Group, you will be involved in a wide range of projects across Canada and the United States. With our diverse team of experts, you will have the opportunity to develop professionally and contribute to the growth of our geotechnical team.

The Role

In this leadership position, you will oversee senior-level projects and provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior and intermediate engineers and technologists. You must possess excellent technical writing skills and have a deep understanding of geotechnical principles, including site investigations, design, and construction.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of geotechnical staff specializing in geotechnical design for industrial and civil infrastructure.
  • Direct and support staff on various geotechnical-focused projects, encompassing subsurface investigations and monitoring, laboratory testing and interpretation, and design and construction.
  • Provide technical expertise on soil mechanics, foundation design, and soil-structure interaction.
  • Manage quality control and risks during geotechnical design, reviewing results in coordination with other disciplines.
  • Support staff on multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring timely and budget-friendly delivery of quality results.
  • Prepare and review technical proposals, geotechnical reports, and design tender packages.
  • Maintain existing client relationships and develop new business opportunities.
  • Coach and mentor junior and intermediate staff in their career growth and professional development.
  • Participate in hiring, performance reviews, and training decisions.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geological Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering.
  • A Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a Geotechnical emphasis is an asset.
  • Current registration or eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario, and other provinces as required.
  • No less than 15 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, including subsurface investigations, laboratory testing, instrument installations and monitoring, shallow and deep foundation engineering, pavement design, soil embankments and slopes, slope stability and stabilization, and quality control inspections.
  • Familiarity with numerical modeling and finite element analysis is a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience.
  • Exceptional technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, innovation, and commitment to technical excellence.
  • Effective time management, attention to detail, and prioritization skills.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary.

Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. We offer an excellent compensation package, reflecting our commitment to attracting and retaining top talent.
