Senior Director, Tax Strategy Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Director, Tax Strategy to join our Accounting and Finance Department. This critical role will play a key part in the tax planning and strategy efforts of EQB Inc and its subsidiaries.

About the Role

The Senior Director, Tax Strategy will oversee tax obligations for companies within the group, including corporate tax, commodity tax, capital tax, and international taxation. Key responsibilities include managing SR&ED claims, supporting the review process, and resolving issues and requests in collaboration with stakeholders.

This position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, combined with superior management and organizational expertise to oversee and manage a wide range of responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Oversight of tax planning/tax strategy efforts for EQB Inc and its subsidiaries to optimize tax obligations.
  • Management of activities related to corporate tax, commodity tax, capital tax, and international taxation.
  • Coordination of SR&ED claims, including gathering reporting and information needed to support claims.
  • Subject matter expert supporting tax filings, remittances, tax provisioning/journal entries, and financial statements notes.
Requirements
  • Completion of a recognized accounting designation (CPA, CA; CPA, CGA; or CPA, CMA).
  • In-depth knowledge of taxation through specialized education or experience working in a related taxation role.
  • 10-15 years of relevant experience, with 5+ years in tax planning/strategy experience.
  • Proven success as a finance leader in a manager/director or similar role, preferably in financial services.
  • Strong organizational skills, excellent written and oral communication, presentation skills, and leadership abilities.
