Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Sustainability Professional to join our team at Raytheon ELCAN.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of our organization by ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and promoting a culture of sustainability within our operations.

Main Responsibilities
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies, maintaining accurate records and reporting any deviations or non-compliances.
  • Lead and monitor closure of action items for hazard analysis assessments, new equipment and process safety reviews, and other environmental, health, and safety-related assessments.
  • Conduct routine inspections and audits to identify potential environmental hazards and recommend corrective actions, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.
  • Maintain records related to environmental compliance, including waste management, air emissions, and water quality, using data analysis to inform decision-making and optimize processes.
  • Review Environmental, Health, and Safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to target areas for improvement, identifying trends and opportunities for growth.
  • Support annual environment permit requirements submissions and assist with preparation of regulatory reports, ensuring timely and accurate submission.
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement through investigating and recommending best practices for all areas of EHS, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Conduct regular safety and environmental inspections of facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions, practices, and behaviors, following up on corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Assist in developing and delivering EHS training programs for employees, promoting a culture of awareness and responsibility.
  • Support the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes and recommend preventive measures, minimizing risks and optimizing outcomes.
  • Prepare and submit required environmental and safety reports to regulatory agencies, maintaining accurate records and adhering to deadlines.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in regulations and standards, ensuring ongoing compliance and adaptability.
  • Properly handle, store, and dispose of hazardous materials, adhering to industry guidelines and best practices.
  • Participate in environmental conservation and waste reduction programs, contributing to the development and implementation of site green teams and sustainability initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
  • 1-5 years' work experience in an EHS-related position within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • A professional EHS designation (e.g., EP, CRSP, AE, CET) is considered a strong asset.
  • The ability to read and interpret environmental, occupational health, and safety legislation.
  • Experience working with the Environmental Protection Act and Ontario health and safety regulations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills at all levels in the organization.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and various software functions.
  • The ability to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines, as well as managing a large amount of information at one time.
  • Previous experience with employee wellness programs, health promotion activities, awareness campaigns, etc.
  • The ability to establish and foster continued employee trust, enhancing the safety culture.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Highly effective communication skills.
  • A proven ability to solve technical problems and make sound decisions.
  • Highly motivated with a demonstrated positive attitude.
  • Willingness to learn and acquire knowledge/understanding through study, instruction, or experience.

$65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience, plus comprehensive benefits package.
