Risk Management Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced RBC Risk Management Commercial Credit Expert to join our team in Toronto, Canada.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating commercial loan requests, reviewing credit histories, and analyzing financial statements to approve or deny loan applications. This role requires a high degree of proficiency in credit assessment and analysis skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate commercial loan requests by reviewing credit histories and analyzing financial statements
- Adjudicate Real Estate credit applications within delegated lending limits, influencing portfolio quality through strategic assessment of risk, attention to data quality, and knowledge-sharing
- Ensure clients and colleagues are treated with respect, using a highly professional and empathetic approach, and maintaining good working relationships
- Lead and apply consistent and effective performance management practices with risk managers in the team
- Partner with relevant stakeholders to achieve collective results, act as a catalyst to ensure the team is strategically aligned with business strategies while maintaining the Bank's desired risk profile
- Coach business partners to develop strategies and leverage RBC resources to minimize overall costs
- Ensure accurate and consistent processes/controls are in place and being followed to protect shareholder interests, ensuring credit transactions are adjudicated, for the most part, within Policy Guidelines, Standards, and Procedures
- Take initiative to proactively seek, demonstrate, and facilitate consistency in credit adjudication, fully utilizing other resources including other risk teams
Requirements:
- Previous credit experience with a high degree of proficiency, preferably GRM experience, but at a minimum 5 years' commercial banking and real estate lending experience
- Undergraduate degree in business or a risk-related field, Master's in Finance or Risk, MBA, and pursuit of CFA/FRM designation preferred
- Strong Risk assessment & analysis skills
- Business and Financial Insight
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
