Job Overview for Lead Frontend Web Developer

We are seeking a highly motivated, energetic individual to join our dynamic team as a Lead Frontend Web Developer in the exciting field of healthcare technology. This multifaceted role will operate within a fast-paced environment, requiring an ambitious candidate who can effectively collaborate with frontend and backend engineers, designers, and healthcare professionals. Key responsibilities include building components on top of our enterprise-grade application, owning Hypercare's web app development, and aiding in implementing and validating security controls.

Main Responsibilities and Tasks

  1. Leverage expertise to lead and grow the Web team at Hypercare, fostering a collaborative environment that drives innovative solutions.
  2. Balance strategic planning with tactical execution, ensuring the Web Client and Web Admin platform deliver high performance, quality, and responsiveness while managing both immediate needs and sustainable growth.
  3. Add new features and enhance existing code to produce a production-grade web application.
  4. Translate designs and wireframes into high-quality code.
  5. Identify and correct bottlenecks and bug fixes.
  6. Design, build, and maintain high-performance, reusable, and reliable code.
  7. Work closely with backend engineers on integration with APIs under active development.
  8. Collaborate with the product manager to meet specifications.
  9. Set up and iterate on CI/CD pipelines.
  10. Cooperate with other developers to design and optimize code.
  11. Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements in existing systems and platforms.
  12. Evaluate operational feasibility by assessing analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
  13. Document and demonstrate solutions through developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code.

Key Qualities and Skills for Success

  • A strong passion for working in a start-up environment.
  • At least 5 years of full-time experience building products.
  • The ability to apply good coding practices to ensure scalability, reusability, and maintainability.
  • Expertise across the web ecosystem with a solid understanding of the DOM, Web APIs, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • A good grasp of modern frontend design patterns.
  • Experience with common front-end development tools such as Vite, Webpack, NPM, etc.
  • Familiarity with Restful APIs.
  • A proficient understanding of Git and branching strategies.
  • The ability to stay current with the latest updates and best practices in the frontend web development ecosystem.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • A team player with the capacity to work collaboratively in a supportive team environment as well as independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • An understanding of responsive design.
  • Knowledge of MVVM, MVC, and MVP design patterns.
  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker.
  • Publishing one or more web applications.
  • Experience with GraphQL or working knowledge of Apollo GraphQL.
  • Cross-browser compatibility.
  • Work experience in health-tech industry.
  • People leadership experience.

Compensation Package

  1. Base salary: $147,500 CAD annually.
  2. Healthcare and dental benefits.
