Student Recruiter Advisor

The Student Recruiter Advisor plays a pivotal role in promoting programs and services at Douglas College. This position involves planning, maintaining, and executing student domestic recruitment programs to attract and engage prospective students. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, with a strong understanding of the B.C. post-secondary education system.
Key Responsibilities- Recruitment Strategies
- Design and implement effective recruitment strategies to promote Douglas College programs and services.
- Present relevant information to various audiences, including small and large groups, on the benefits of post-secondary education and Douglas College programs.
- Provide accurate information to students on possible post-secondary programs at Douglas College based on their interest areas.
- Supervision and Team Management
- Supervise the work of Student Assistants and Co-op Students, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Support the Associate Student Recruiter Advisor in supervising the Student Ambassador volunteer group.
- Event Planning and Execution
- Coordinate and organize recruitment events, including school visits, career fairs, and trade shows.
- Set up displays, tables, and promotional materials, and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Communication and Relationship Building
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with public and independent secondary schools, government agencies, and community groups.
- Respond to inquiries from secondary school counselors and teachers, and provide information on Douglas College programs and services.
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a related field from a recognized post-secondary educational institution, plus two years' related work experience.
- A working knowledge of the B.C. post-secondary education system, including admission requirements and programs.
- Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, including written and verbal fluency in English.
- A valid B.C. driver's license and access to a motor vehicle.
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and the Microsoft Dynamics CRM system.
- Experience in providing supervision in a work environment or a demonstrated understanding of effective supervisory practices.
