Our dedicated people are the source of our success, and their safety and health always come first. We are seeking a skilled Dockworker to join our team in the Thunder Bay office.

This role reports to the Dock Lead Hand and is responsible for completing various warehouse tasks at the Winnipeg terminal. Primary responsibilities include unloading trailers and processing associated paperwork.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Count and inspect freight for damages, shortages, or overages
  • Strip trailers and place freight in the correct area of the warehouse
  • Unload freight according to unloading procedures
  • Move freight efficiently to minimize claims
  • Maximize time and unloading process efficiency
  • Monitor and complete bills of lading and other shipping documents
  • Keep the dock area organized and clean
  • Practice and promote a safe work environment by following all safety procedures
  • Dispose of garbage in designated areas to avoid hazards and maintain a clean dock
  • Perform other duties as necessary to meet the goals and objectives of the dock

Qualification Requirements

A high school diploma with a minimum of two years' experience working in a fast-paced logistics environment is required. Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills are essential. The ability to work with minimal supervision and be a team player is also necessary.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this role are above average. The successful candidate must be able to lift up to 50lbs from shoulders to floor, bend and twist consistently, stand and walk all day, and have good hand and foot coordination. Ability to work in varying temperatures and operate small equipment such as power jacks, forklifts, and hand dollies is also required. Personal protective equipment must be worn.
