Lead Environment Artist

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Environment Artist to join our team at Ubisoft Entertainment. As a key member of our Environment team, you will be responsible for guiding the creation of captivating 3D environments in an immersive world to explore.

You will collaborate with Level Designers and Art Directors to discuss and understand the intentions and vision of the game, and work closely with other art team Leads and Art Directors to develop the vision for the game. Your role will involve coordinating and motivating level artists as they develop their environments, organizing and facilitating regular team meetings, and balancing artistic aspects with technical constraints.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with Level Designers and Art Directors to discuss and understand the game's vision;
  • Developing the vision for the game with other art team Leads and Art Directors;
  • Coordinating and motivating level artists to deliver high-quality environments;
  • Organizing and facilitating regular team meetings to assign tasks and discuss progress;
  • Ensuring that environments are aligned with the artistic direction and can be animated well;
  • Providing guidance and constructive feedback to develop a consistent, quality visual style;
  • Staying up-to-date with best practices to keep pace with the industry;
  • Participating in recruiting to create and grow your team of level artists.
Qualifications

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Lead Environment Artist with a strong background in level art, modeling, texturing, lighting, and image processing. You should have a solid understanding of art fundamentals, including lighting, composition, and color theory, as well as excellent mentoring, communication, organization, time management, and interpersonal skills.

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • A solid experience in level art, especially in architecture, modeling, texturing, lighting, and image processing;
  • Knowledge of 3D software, such as 3DS Max or Maya, and optimization techniques;
  • Excellent mentoring, communication, organization, time management, and interpersonal skills;
  • Flexibility and resourcefulness;
  • A collaborative, creative, and empathetic spirit;
  • Attention to detail.
