We are seeking an experienced Head Chef to join our team at The Skeena Bar & Skeena Liquor Store. This is a permanent full-time position, working 40 hours per week.

About the Role

As a Head Chef, you will be responsible for managing kitchen operations, including planning menus, estimating food requirements, and supervising kitchen staff. You will also be responsible for maintaining inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment, as well as cleaning kitchen and work areas.

Your role will involve recruiting and hiring staff, training them in preparation, cooking, and handling of food, and ordering supplies and equipment. You will also be responsible for inspecting kitchens and food service areas to ensure they meet health and safety standards.

In addition to your culinary skills, you will have excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to train and motivate staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement menus, taking into account seasonal availability of ingredients and customer preferences
  • Estimate food requirements and order supplies and equipment as needed
  • Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality food production
  • Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting
  • Clean kitchen and work areas, adhering to health and safety standards
  • Recruit and hire staff, conducting interviews and assessments to select the best candidates
  • Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food, ensuring they understand and follow company procedures
  • Order supplies and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and installation
Requirements
  • 1-2 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in a fast-paced restaurant environment
  • Excellent culinary skills, with knowledge of menu planning, food costing, and inventory management
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to train and motivate staff
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, with a focus on providing excellent customer service
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations, with a commitment to maintaining a safe and clean working environment
