Caregiver - Support Specialist

At Home Instead, we are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Care Professionals. As a Care Professional, you will have the opportunity to make a remarkable difference in the lives of seniors who require assistance with day-to-day activities.
About the Role
You will be responsible for building meaningful relationships with our clients, providing companionship, advocacy, and support. Your role will involve assisting with various home care services, including:
- Companionship and conversation to combat loneliness and isolation
- Assisting with light housekeeping and meal preparation to promote independence
- Reminding clients of medications and appointments to ensure timely care
- Running errands and accompanying clients to appointments to enhance their quality of life
- Providing personal care, such as bathing, grooming, and toileting, to maintain dignity and comfort
- Delivering person-centered care to clients with Alzheimer's and Dementia, focusing on their unique needs and preferences
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you must have:
- A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle to transport clients safely
- The ability to work in various service locations, including homes, care facilities, and hospitals, to meet the diverse needs of our clients
- Open availability throughout the week, including at least one day on the weekend, to accommodate client schedules
- Flexibility to work fluctuating hours and adapt to changing client needs, which may include working with clients who are sick or have varying levels of care requirements
Benefits
We offer a competitive hourly rate of $21.00-$23.00 per hour, depending on job responsibility. Our benefits package includes optional benefits after three months of employment, recognition for outstanding performance, a supportive family/team environment, work-life balance, excellent training, and online learning opportunities. We also provide 24/7 office support and flexible shift arrangements, typically ranging from three to four hours per client.
Training and Development
We invest in our Care Professionals' growth and development through various training programs, including:
- Personal and/or previous caregiving experience is highly valued and can be an advantage in this role
- Alzheimer's and Dementia training to equip you with the skills and confidence to deliver exceptional care
- Nurse-directed care training to ensure you understand the complexities of client care
- Quarterly training sessions to stay up-to-date with best practices and industry developments
- Client-specific training to tailor your approach to each individual's unique needs
Location
This role is based in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, and may require travel to surrounding areas to support our clients.
Hourly Rate: $21.00-$23.00 per hour (dependent on job responsibility)
