Refinisher (Furniture) Role Overview

The House of Commons Administration is seeking a skilled Refinisher to join their team. This role involves refinishing and restoring furniture to its original condition, including heritage pieces.

About the Position

This is a unique opportunity to work with a diverse range of tools and materials, and to be part of a collaborative and supportive team. You will have the chance to work on historically significant elements and to develop your skills in a specialized trade.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate the condition and conservation value of furnishings in specific rooms of the House of Commons
  • Provide on-site touch-ups to meet maintenance requirements
  • Apply stains, sealers, fillers, lacquers, and other products to restore furniture
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A refinisher certificate or diploma, or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience
  • Experience in furniture refinishing, surface finish restoration, and repair
  • Colour matching and touch-up techniques
  • Familiarity with various types of furniture refinishing products
