Job Title: Driller Assistant

Job Summary:

Boart Longyear is seeking a skilled Driller Assistant to join our team in Haileybury, Ontario. As a Driller Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting our drilling operations, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of drilling projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist drillers in the operation of drilling equipment, including rods and drilling tools.
  • Collect and handle samples, mix drilling fluids, and perform basic maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Conduct daily pre-start checks, refuel vehicles and plant, and maintain accurate operating records.
  • Support drilling operations, including handling rods and drilling tools, collecting and handling samples, and mixing drilling fluids.
  • Monitor a safe workplace, maintain workplace safety, and apply risk management processes to eliminate work-related injuries and damage to equipment.
  • Contribute to and establish effective workplace relationships, and provide training through instruction and demonstration of work skills, coaching, and mentoring to other field employees.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid First Aid Certificate.
  • Sufficient language skills, literacy, and numeracy skills to perform all job-related tasks.
  • Labour background considered an asset.
  • 2+ years of directly related experience.
  • Exposure to different drilling environments and techniques is preferred.
