Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team in the Emergency Department. This exciting opportunity offers the chance to work closely with an interdisciplinary care team, providing direct care activities such as assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating interventions for patients in the Emergency Department.

The successful candidate will participate in discharge and/or care planning, function as a client advocate, and teach clients and their families about illness/injury and overall health promotion and wellness. They will also enhance quality of life from the perspective of the client/family, establish, maintain, and enhance therapeutic relationships based on respect, and provide care to clients and families based on stable and/or predictable states of health by initiating and following established plans of care.

We are looking for an LPN with 1 year of recent experience working in a related area of care. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability in nursing practice related to caring for patients with complex disease, acute/chronic disease management, mental health and substance use issues. They will also possess demonstrated knowledge of pathophysiology related to common diagnoses, including malignancies/cancers, acute/chronic respiratory illness/disease, acute/chronic renal failure, acute/chronic hepatic failure, GI illness/diseases, chronic wounds, orthopedic injuries/conditions, and mental health and substance use issues.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to make sound clinical judgments to provide safe, ethical client care, manage a select population of clients, and recognize potential complications and care issues relevant to the designated client group. You will also be expected to document client care on appropriate systems/forms in accordance with organizational and unit standards in a timely and accurate manner.
