At Alberta Health Services, we are seeking a skilled Behavioural Health Consultant to join our interdisciplinary primary care network team.

Job Description:

  • Provide consultation-based services to patients, primary care physicians, and other allied health professionals using an integrated behavioural healthcare model in a primary care setting.
  • Identify, assess, and conduct brief evidence-informed psychosocial interventions to patients and their families with psychological, physical, and behavioural health concerns.
  • Implement advanced clinical interventions utilizing one or more modalities of psychotherapy (e.g. individual, family and/or couple) and provide individual, couple, and family therapy as appropriate.
  • Communicate clear, practical, evidence-based diagnoses and assessment findings and develop specific behavioural change plans with patients.
  • Develop behavioural health protocols for specific patient populations in consultation and collaboration with the primary care team.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a health-related field.
  • Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
  • Minimum 5 years post-degree experience in providing assessment and treatment of mental and behavioural health disorders to individuals across the lifespan in a mental health setting.
  • Training and experience in individual, couple, and family therapy modalities, as well as implementing evidence-based interventions.
