Job OpportunityWe are currently seeking a Personal Support Worker to join our team in the Alliston area. This is a full-time or part-time position that requires a strong commitment to providing exceptional care and support to our clients.
Responsibilities- Provide supportive care to clients in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Work under the supervision of a Registered Healthcare Professional, such as a Registered Nurse (RN) or a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN).
- Perform tasks delegated to you, if trained to do so.
- Observe and report changes in clients' behavior to the appropriate registered member of the healthcare team.
- Assess clients' health status by recognizing signs and symptoms and report to the Nursing Supervisor or Administrator as necessary.
- Provide emergency first aid/care until appropriate medical care is available.
- Assist clients with ambulation when necessary.
- Teach good health habits to clients.
- Perform daily housekeeping tasks and complete facility laundry as per policy and procedure.
- Have a full understanding of and practice Infection Prevention and Control policies.
- Work collaboratively and promote positive team spirit within the department.
- Maintain good attendance record according to company policy.
- Demonstrated interpersonal/communication skills.
- Current certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) and Gentle Persuasion Approaches to Dementia Care (GPA) are assets.
- Excellent teamwork and effective communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work well independently and under pressure.
- High interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Experience in medication administration is an asset.
- Willingness to update and keep current their knowledge of changing regulations, practices, and procedures is a requirement.
- Demonstrated positive work record and good attendance record.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is required (dated within 6 months of employment start date). TB testing is required. Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.
