Lead Structural Engineer Opportunity

Ausenco is a leading consulting company with a strong presence in Canada. We are currently seeking a highly skilled Lead Structural Engineer to join our team in Burnaby.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop structural engineering designs from conceptual to detailed design, tender, and construction in accordance with Canadian codes and standards.
  • Perform analysis and design of steel, concrete, masonry, and timber structures, as well as concrete foundations for new infrastructure projects and seismic upgrade projects.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and prepare reports for existing and new structures.
  • Evaluate and analyze existing structures for modifications and additions, and propose reinforcement solutions.
  • Prepare specifications, design criteria, and material take-off for projects.
  • Ensure that objectives of cost, quality, and time are met.
  • Collaborate with drafting staff to produce detailed drawing packages.
  • Supervise the work of other engineers on the project team.
  • Liaise with client representatives and general contractors directly.
  • Support business development efforts.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering from a recognized university (Master's degree considered an asset).
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in BC (registration in another province or internationally considered an asset).
  • Designated Structural Engineer (Struct.Eng.) in BC.
  • 12+ years' experience in structural design, including 10 years' experience in seismic upgrade projects.
  • Thorough understanding of structural steel, concrete, masonry, and timber design.
  • Proficiency in Canadian codes and standards.
  • Proficiency in structural engineering analysis and design software such as SFRAME, ETABS, or SAP2000.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English.
  • Experience in dealing with clients and contractors directly.
