Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Compensation Specialist to join our team in Ontario. This role is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing, year-end processes, and managing government reporting and remittances.
Key Responsibilities- Process regular payroll for all employees on a biweekly schedule, adhering to legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Verify accuracy of employee data updates based on supporting documentation.
- Validate balancing of all payroll files before transmitting them to the bank.
- Administer remittances to government institutions.
- Develop and maintain processes to monitor tax compliance issues and concerns for employees.
- Support HR Generalists in answering payroll-related questions and investigating discrepancies.
- Lead the year-end process, collaborating with HR Manager, Director, HR, HRIS Advisor, and finance.
- Generate and deliver statutory government filings, such as ROEs, T4s, and T4As, accurately and within regulated timelines.
- Respond to auditor and finance inquiries, demonstrating the accuracy of the payroll process.
- Maintain payroll process documentation, updating it when processes are amended or updated.
- E nsure integrity of the payroll system through ongoing quality improvement, auditing, testing, and education for end-users.
- 3-4 years of experience in delivering payroll is required.
- University degree in accounting, finance, business, or human resources is necessary.
- Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation is required.
- Experience working in UKG is preferred.
- Experience delivering payroll in a self-management environment is an asset.
- Proficiency in payroll software and advanced Excel is essential.
- Demonstrated knowledge proficiency in related provisions of the Income Tax Act, Ontario Employment Standards Act, pension regulations, and WSIB reporting is necessary.
- Engages in personal continuous improvement, remaining well-versed in changes to the payroll system and government rules.
- Excellent attention to detail, with proven ability to work to a high standard of accuracy.
- Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment, handling time-sensitive inquiries with accuracy and speed.
- Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills are necessary.
- Strong numeracy and mathematical skills are required.
- Data mindset and good understanding of data architecture are necessary.
- Maintains confidentiality in all communications and file management.
The estimated salary for this position is between $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
