About the Job:

We are seeking a dedicated Youth Developmental Specialist to join our team at Developmental Disabilities Association.

Job Description:

This is a permanent full-time position working in a group home or child care centre setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing childcare programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing childcare programs that support the overall growth and well-being of children;
  • Laying out activities such as storytelling, teaching songs, and taking children on outings to local points of interest;
  • Encouraging children to express their creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity;
  • Maintaining a safe environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children;
  • Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with coworkers and community service providers working with children.
Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have an Other trades certificate or diploma and 1-2 years of experience in a similar role. Emergency Child Care First Aid and CPR certification and an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate are also required.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:

This role requires frequent bending, crouching, and kneeling, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Financial Benefits:

The salary for this position is $45,000 - $60,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience. Additional benefits include hours ranging from 4 to 37.5 per week and permanent employment status.
