3D Asset Creation Director

We are seeking a highly experienced Modeling Supervisor to lead our Digital Model Shop team at Industrial Light & Magic. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the modeling team, ensuring that all assets are created to the highest standards and meet the technical and aesthetic requirements of our productions.
Key Responsibilities:- Craft and supervise the creation of complex 3D models, ensuring that they meet the desired look and technical specifications.
- Work closely with VFX, Texture, and Look Dev Supervisors to establish the visual style and aesthetic of our assets.
- Participate in turnover meetings, asset breakdowns, reviews, and bidding/re-bidding processes to ensure seamless project execution.
- Attend production and team meetings to promote effective communication and collaboration.
- Brief, review, and approve Third Party Partner model work.
- Assign work to modelers based on their individual skills and strengths, and provide guidance and feedback to ensure high-quality results.
- Collaborate with the Head of Department to guide artists' professional development, provide performance feedback, and maintain positive morale within the team.
- Participate in the recruiting and staffing of the modeling team, assessing the work of prospective candidates and working with Recruiting and Talent Management on hiring decisions.
- Extensive leadership experience in a large-scale VFX facility, with a proven track record of creating complex 3D models for film and TV.
- Confident in providing mentorship, guidance, and constructive feedback to team members.
- Expert knowledge of Maya and Zbrush.
- Strong design sense for mechanics, vehicles, and architecture.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and assimilate new information.
- Proven experience working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and skill sets.
- Team-oriented demeanor with an open mind and desire to learn.
Industrial Light & Magic is a world-renowned visual effects company that has been pushing the boundaries of cinematic storytelling for over four decades. We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment, where talented individuals can grow and thrive.
We offer a competitive salary range of C$137,300 to C$175,800 per year, based on a 40-hour work week. The actual salary offered will take into account internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other variable pay or benefits may be offered dependent on the level and position offered.
