Service Supervisor Job Description

The Service Supervisor plays a crucial role in the daily operations of the service department at Magnum Trailer and Equipment. This position oversees and manages a team of Lead Hands and Service Mechanics, ensuring the successful execution of service jobs and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to customer inquiries and concerns in a professional and respectful manner, representing Magnum Trailer and Equipment positively.
  • Collaborate with the service leadership team to address customer and staffing concerns, including performance management, scheduling, training, and technical support.
  • Prioritize and organize the workload in the shop to meet and exceed customer expectations, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimizing downtime.
  • Oversee the daily organization of the shop, including scheduling service jobs, moving equipment, assigning work to staff, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Provide support with service writing, parts ordering, and issuing, as required.
  • Perform administrative duties, such as employee time off requests, payroll and labor adjustments, shift summaries, and safety reporting.
  • Provide first aid coverage as needed, after completing level 2 certification.
  • Ensure maintenance functions are performed in a timely manner, reporting equipment malfunctions or deficiencies promptly.
  • Emphasize safety as the top priority, ensuring employees operate in accordance with established standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiencies, throughput, and quality of workmanship.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a Heavy Duty/Commercial Transport program from an accredited educational institution or 5-10 years of experience in a service shop or trucking industry.
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of heavy equipment and service repairs.
  • Experience leading teams and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications.
  • Knowledge and understanding of ERP systems, preferably Visual.
