Job Summary


The Staff Nurse, Maternity, at Providence Health Care provides nursing care to patients/residents in a maternity setting. This includes assessing, identifying, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care required to assist patients/residents in meeting their physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of perinatal nursing practice and be able to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team.



Responsibilities



  • Reviews patient/resident status and assesses their problems and needs
  • Develops, implements, evaluates, and prioritizes nursing care and nursing interventions
  • Provides nursing care according to identified policies and procedures, technology, and PHC standards
  • Monitors patient/resident progress, evaluates outcomes, and modifies the plan of care as needed
  • Documents information, including assessments, plan of care, patient/resident status, and progress
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care
  • Takes part in ongoing education and training to enhance nursing practice and patient care


Requirements



  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives
  • Two years' recent experience in a maternity setting with a labour and birth component
  • Current neonatal resuscitation certification
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to apply decision-making and analytical skills
