Maternal Health Nurse Specialist

Job Summary
The Staff Nurse, Maternity, at Providence Health Care provides nursing care to patients/residents in a maternity setting. This includes assessing, identifying, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care required to assist patients/residents in meeting their physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of perinatal nursing practice and be able to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Reviews patient/resident status and assesses their problems and needs
- Develops, implements, evaluates, and prioritizes nursing care and nursing interventions
- Provides nursing care according to identified policies and procedures, technology, and PHC standards
- Monitors patient/resident progress, evaluates outcomes, and modifies the plan of care as needed
- Documents information, including assessments, plan of care, patient/resident status, and progress
- Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care
- Takes part in ongoing education and training to enhance nursing practice and patient care
Requirements
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives
- Two years' recent experience in a maternity setting with a labour and birth component
- Current neonatal resuscitation certification
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team
- Ability to apply decision-making and analytical skills
