We are seeking a skilled Security Guard to join our team at a university in St. Catharines. As a Security Guard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our clients, tenants, and visitors. Your primary role will be to maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while interacting with the public, and to respond to emergencies and incidents in a timely and effective manner.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in security and customer service, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills. You will be required to work a continental rotational shift schedule, with 2 days of work followed by 2 nights of work and 4 days off. You will also be required to maintain a valid Provincial Security Guard license and a clean abstract.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct interior and exterior patrols of the university campus
  • Lock and unlock doors as necessary
  • Assist staff and students on campus as needed
  • Provide security escorts and respond to service calls
  • Conduct property inspections and enforce property laws and regulations
  • Assist in emergency situations, including first aid and other interventions
  • Interact with students, visitors, and the general public in a professional and courteous manner
  • Maintain social distancing and follow all health and safety protocols
  • Detect and challenge unwanted individuals
  • Evacuate the building in case of emergency

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled or completed Police Foundation or equivalent education
  • Pursuing a career in law enforcement
  • 4 years of secondary education or diploma certificate
  • Previous experience in the security industry
  • Valid Provincial Security Guard license
  • Valid G/G-2 license and clean abstract
  • Valid First Aid and CPR C, AED certification
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Customer service oriented
  • Leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Vulnerable Sector Check Clearance required
